Well, you have already chosen your travel location/destination and now you probably think about a). your hotel or apartments and b). your way of travel. Let it be so that you are going to rent a car, don’t you? I want you to draw your attention to some tips, which make my travels better. And probably (I hope) make better yours. Here we go!
How to choose the right apartment?
In this case, you should firstly decide what exactly you want from your trip.
Try to define your working place location. It is important also if you have no transfer. If it is a nice district, you may book a property as close as it possible to your office.
IF YOU TRAVEL FOR WORK
If the district is not enough safe or you just don’t like it and choose another one, it will be better to know a route and a schedule of the public transport. Well, in unexpected cases, use “Uber” or phone to another local taxi.
In this case, the issue of apartments is discussed with a travel agency or guide. As a rule, tourists who have the same travel plan are accommodated in the same hotel.
IF YOU TRAVEL IN A GROUP (agency)
You should be familiar with all features and amenities of the hotel where you will stay. In case of violation of your rights do not forget about writing a complaint letter.
- When planning to visit all favorite tourist places (and they are usually closer to the city center): museums, parks, trendy streets, it will be better to stay close to them. Just not to waste your time on traffic jams. By the way, the option “breakfast included” will be useful to eat&go!
- If your goal is simply to wander around new places, find something just for yourself, to be one of the local ones – then choose distant areas from the center.
IF YOU TRAVEL ALONE (no agency)
3. Use Booking for booking hotels and AirBnb for apartments. It is not an advertisement, I always use only these ones by myself and can trust only them.
4. If you travel by car, do not forget about the option of free parking. This will help save money and not get a fine. If you don’t have a car, choose accommodation not so far from public transport stops.
5. When visiting countries where local residents themselves offer housing, ALWAYS check the security system and documents. If in doubt, do not sign.

| Parking disk and parking rules | In a new country, different public parking rules may apply. Ask your manager about it or read online. In addition, make sure your car has a parking disk to set the parking time. |
