Unique art in Amsterdam

As I have already mentioned, I wanted to explore, so to say, my gorgeous Amsterdam with my own expectations and realities. That time I was not so interested in art as now, but I have already had some places to check.

I would like to begin my list with the most maybe banal (sorry!) and one of the most widely popular museum – The Rijksmuseum. If I texted this post about 1,5 months ago, I would write something like “if you are bored of art and looking for something unusual, you shouldn’t visit this museum and bla bla bla”. BUT! Even if you are like me hate something dull, banal, usual, habitual.. please, nevertheless, visit Rijksmuseum. It is just a huge collection of priceless Dutch art works and it will give you an amazing portion of inspiration. Just believe me 🙂 If we want to separate Dutch museums with banal art and unique, first of all we MUST know what national Dutch art is and just respect it.

Museums that I do recommend

  • Moco Museum – independent museum of the contemporary art. I adore it. Several modern and strong exhibitions. Like, when artists so not keep silent and do not hold tongues. In addition, the museum takes only 2 floors and it is very convenient to move being inside. You can spend there as many time as you wish but won’t be tired with endless stairs and examining your guide map.
  • Van Goch Museum – one of the greatest talent, isn’t he? It is absolutely worth visiting.. and not only once!
  • Science museums: Micropia, Body Worlds, NEMO Science Museum. Just because they open some new worlds which can be studied for years, and it is a great opportunity to take look at completely new angles of everything that surrounds us, including our physical bodies.

Museums I do not recommend

  • Museums of cannabis/ beer/ sex – it’s so trivial that it’s not even fun to tell friends. Spend your time on something really worthwhile than just on LOL.
  • Museums of chocolate/ cheese/ waffles – I recommend you to visit cheese and other food FACTORIES in some Amsterdam villages for watching and exploring it by yourselves. Moreover, there you can try their fresh goods literally from the production machine!
  • Bored historical museums with lots of unnecessary information and yawning guides.

Anyway it is up to you to choose what museum you are going to visit. It was only my experience, and if you want to share your own – leave a comment!
