Tourist traps in Rome

How not to fall into the tourist trap? The topic that is actual at any time of the year and absolutely for all tourists. Rome is generally a specific place. When people think about it, their imagination is filled with romance and the smell of homemade wine that served with prosciutto and parmigiano.. In addition to all its advantages, which were not so many, every tourist who came there should be attentive. Almost at every corner the tourists are waited for various tricks in which they can only spend money and be disappointed.

An experienced tourist always make the travel plan with some sightseeings, roads, food places etc. Rome is full of charming places that attract tourists from all over the world. But unfortunately in the tourism industry, not everything is so clear.

First of all you should know that even if you choose the most rainy day of the year, the most popular places in Rome will be visited by thousands tourists with you. Traffic jams and queues in Rome can not be avoided! So you’d better to have some taking away food and water for not to be angry because of you are hungry!

For example, one of the popular Rome tours includes most popular ‘worth-seeing’ places, but there really are nothing special.

Tickets to museums (book online = save your time), food, taxi, souvenirs in the center of any European capital is much more expensive than a couple of kilometers away. Just keep it in mind and do not spend extra money for souvenirs from aliexpress. In addition, most central restaurants are always full for dinner, so reservations in advance are required!

From my own experience, let me say that the restaurants in the center are always worse and more expensive than the local and the small ones. If you are immediately offered a menu in English, you can safely leave – no “true” Italian pasta or pizza will be served to you.. As a rule, in Italy the same food for tourists and for locals will differ in prices.

Italian cuisine
True Italian cuisine can be found in small local cafes (and very often by someone’s recommendation). Ask you host or hotel’s worker about local pearls.

Famous squares, fountains, parks in the center of Rome and of course the Vatican… In addition to the fact that all the places lined with crowds of tourists are buried in ticket prices, they are also buried in GARBAGE!

Garbage is almost everywhere..

While Greta talks about carbon dioxide emissions and calls for citizens to pay taxes, just tons of garbage are resting and breeding cockroaches on the streets of Rome.

Personally, I was also bothered by a large number of young people who came to Italy to work illegally. They flog figurines, flowers, postcards, photographs in your hands and, as it were, “present” them to you. As soon as you take a few steps away they brazenly begin to demand money.

The center of Rome is full of scam. Be careful with your safety and money!

And the last one but now the least. ATM. This ATM will take 30% fees. Try to find the other one.

ATM fees 30 %

These are the main tricks that I met while I was in Rome. Now I hope that you will not please them either.
